This review covers the trance track Weekend Players – Into The Sun (Riva Remix).
This track was released in 2002 along with three other versions.
The track starts with a drum kit and a chord guitar. A synth pad is also present. The guitar fills out with a few more notes. A high hat joins the track. The drum kit then briefly drops out before coming back with a synth rhythm element. The guitar then fades out with some added filtering.
After a bit, a cymbal crash makes an appearance. The guitar then gradually starts fading back in. In addition to this, another synth also fades in. A filtered snare roll makes an appearance and parts of the drum kit drop out. The rest eventually gets dropped, leaving only a couple of synths.
From there, the vocals make an appearance for a verse. The vocals have a delay effect applied to them. Backup vocals join when they take the track into the main chorus. Some synth pads fade in. The guitar also starts fading in. After a snare roll, the drum kit rejoins the track along with a few other synths. The vocals drop out at this stage as well. An additional synth pad also joins the track a little bit into this section.
A snare roll then makes an appearance and multiple synths drop out. This leaves a couple synths and most of the drum kit. The vocals rejoin the track for another verse. A cymbal crash makes a minor appearance. The vocals take the track into the main chorus. Part way through, the drum kit drops out while the synth pads rejoin the track. A snare roll makes an appearance before the rest of the drum kit rejoins the track. The synth melody rejoins the track in a subtle manner. The main chorus ends with a snare roll.
After that, the guitar element rejoins the track as other synths drop out. The guitar then gradually fades out with assistance from filtering. A snare roll makes an appearance and a synth effect leads the track out.
One thing this track has going for it is a nice overall atmosphere. It’s a chilled out sound with a dash of exhilaration. The way everything comes together really sets that mood nicely.
The vocals work quite well. There are moments where they get a bit garbled, but this winds up being a minor issue in this case.
Overall, this is a very solid track. It’s got nice synth pads and vocals to really set the mood throughout. The vocals themselves sound good, though they can be a bit garbled for brief moments. Still, this is a very worthwhile track to listen to if you ask me. A very solid one.
