Review: Grenz & Fillmore – Waterworld (Mystery Islands Remix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Grenz & Fillmore – Waterworld (Mystery Islands Remix).

This track was released in 2005 as part of a single.

The track starts with a kick and a synth effect. The high hat fades in and a reverse cymbal follows shortly after. An added synth effect makes an appearance and is followed by a second. The drum kit then fills out as more synths are added. A drill kick effect then makes an appearance as several elements briefly pull back. After that, the other elements return in full. Another kick drill effect makes an appearance and a synth melody joins the track. The drum kit briefly drops out again before continuing.

After that, a number of elements, including most of the drum kit, drops out. The high hat then drops out, leaving a few synth pads. After a cymbal crash, a synth melody joins the track. A reverse cymbal makes another appearance as the pads are brought forward more. The piano then joins the track to replace the synth melody. When the piano drops out, another synth melody replaces it as a kick drill effect gradually fades in for another appearance.

A snare roll makes an appearance and the drum kit fills out. The main synth melody carries on. The drum kit briefly drops out, then returns. Then, the piano rejoins the track and is layered over top of everything else. This carries on for a bit.

After a kick drill effect, the drum kit drops out along with a number of elements. The piano carries on for a few notes before dropping out. After that, the drum kit returns along with a number of other synths. The drum kit briefly drops out before continuing. Cymbal effects make an appearance again. After some synth and cymbal effects, parts of the drum kit drop out. A sonar synth makes an appearance. After a short snare roll, the cymbal and several synths lead the track out.

One thing I really like about the track is the many layers of synths. It can be a bit difficult to keep up with them all, but they generally help give this track a nice rich sound throughout. That alone makes this an enjoyable track to listen to.

Another thing I like about the track is the added piano element. This really ties up the track nicely and gives this track a nice climactic section. So, that is also quite enjoyable.

In addition to this, the other synth melodies really rounds this track out nicely. Again, it’s a nice enjoyable track because, in part, of that.

Overall, this is a very solid track. It’s got a nice overall sound. The piano and synth melodies are very well done. In addition to this, it flows very nicely. So, a very solid track well worth listening to.
