Review: Above & Beyond Feat. Zoë Johnston – No One On Earth (Original Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Above & Beyond Feat. Zoë Johnston – No One On Earth (Original Mix).

This track was released in 2004 on a single.

The track starts with some synth pads and effect. Those pads and effects fade back out and parts of a drum kit join the track. The pads return and a few additional percussion elements join the track. A choir element joins the track and the vocal makes a brief appearance.

From there, the vocals take the track into the first verse. The vocals have a subtle delay effect. A synth melody joins the track. An additional synth melody also joins the track. A bassline then joins the track as the vocals take the track into another round of the main chorus. Some synth strings join the track. A heavy reverb kick makes an appearance and many elements drop out.

The main vocals, a synth, and a string element takes over. A piano then joins the track. After a reverse cymbal, the kick and a few percussion elements rejoin the track. The high hat re-joins the track and the vocals take the track into the main chorus again. This is capped off with the piano re-joining the track as the vocals continue in a non-lyrical manner.

The vocals then take the track into another round in the main chorus. This is layered with every element of the track including the piano. The main chorus is slightly modified with some backup vocals. The drum kit and several other elements drop out, leaving largely just the vocals.

After that, a synth, bassline, and drum kit re-join the track. Another synth along with the non-lyrical version of the vocals join the track. The vocals then gradually fade out as with one of the synths before it. The reverse cymbal makes an appearance and parts of the track break down. A synth effect makes an appearance and a reverse cymbal leads the track out.

One thing I really like about this track is the vocals. It works so well with not just the track, but the genre as a whole. Those main vocals really sell this track in my opinion.

The synths work pretty well as well. They, along with the strings, really fills out the track nicely. Additionally, I think the overall production is very solid.

If you want a nice chilled out track, this is definitely a great one to listen to. A lot about this track works very well.

Overall, this is a very solid track that is right on the cusp of being another great track. It’s got great vocals, solid synths, and well thought out production quality. A very relaxing and enjoyable track well worth listening to.
