Welcome to the 216th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Nintendo Switch game, The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
After playing Breath of the Wild, I finally get the chance to play Tears of the Kingdom. One of the thing I had heard was that this was a much larger game than Breath of the Wild. I wouldn’t be surprised, but I did wonder how much that would impact the time it takes to play this one.
Just a note, though, I noticed that the intro was quite long. I recorded a first impression video from the point where the game allowed the player to take control, but it was nothing but cut scenes. So, I skipped ahead to this part of the game for a first impression video since it at least showed some elements of gameplay beyond walking and swinging a sword at some bats.
Anyway, while playing, I did notice a lot of similarities between this game and Breath of the Wild. This isn’t a bad thing since I liked a lot of the elements from the previous game. There was the return of the stamina meter, elements of a cooking system, the breaking weapon system, and a few other elements right off the bat. All in all, the game had a very familiar feel to it while still looking quite new.
Since this game is highly praised, I am looking forward to how the rest of the game plays, that’s for sure.
I also wanted to hear from you. For those who have played this game, what are your thoughts on this game? Was this a highly enjoyable game that nicely compliments the previous game on the Switch? Did you think this was a great immersive game? Was this not necessarily as good as you were hoping? Any thoughts at all, feel free to comment below.
For those who haven’t played this game, but played other Zelda games, what are your thoughts on this one? Does this look like a game you would be totally willing to try or are you burnt out on the Zelda franchise?
Also, for those who haven’t played any of the Zelda games, what are your thoughts on what you saw? Does this look like a game that would be interesting to play or are you intimidated by the pure size of the game? Let us know in the comments below!
