Welcome to the 234th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are checking out the Playstation 5. This along with the game library I was able to collect (not shown due to space limitations: Baldur’s Gate III and Spider Man 2). You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
This is a followup video to my earlier unboxing video. For those who haven’t seen it, you can check it out here.
In this video, I not only talk about my time playing with the Nintendo Switch for a year (briefly), but also my first impression of the Playstation 5. What I can definitely say is this things is… massive. I originally noticed that consoles were growing when I checked out the Playstation 3 and Playstation 4. I don’t know why, but I thought that the size of them was just the new normal and that this next console was going to probably be around the same size. I was so very very wrong.
In fact, the console was so large, it was filling my table. Boxed, it took over my whole table. Unboxed, it still took a lot more real estate then I was expecting. The controller definitely had some differences, but generally felt quite familiar as well with the touch pad and button layout from the Playstation 4 controller design.
In fact, I had so little space to work with, I didn’t think there was room for me to fit my physical copy of Baldur’s Gate III (you can see that video here). Also missing is, of course, the box saying that this console came bundled with Spider Man 2. Apart from that, I do briefly show which games I was able to collect so far. I plan on continuing to collect for this console as well as this is not a complete collection (and games are still being released for this console!).
As I’ve said in the video, one of the comments I’ve received in the past is that because I’m not playing modern games, I’m not going to get the attention I deserve. To a degree, I have been experimenting with modern games through the Nintendo Switch, but it wasn’t enough data points for me to conclude that modern gaming is a bust for someone reviewing games as far as lack of reception is concerned. So, consider this a second response to that criticism. 🙂
I hope I did well with my game collecting so far, but let me know in the comments how I did. One thing is for sure, I’m looking forward to seeing what modern gaming really has to offer.
