Review: Kyau & Albert – Velvet Morning (Aalto Remix) (Trance)

This review covers the trance track Kyau & Albert – Velvet Morning (Aalto Remix).

This track was released in 2004 as a single.

The track starts with parts of a drum kit, high hat, and two synths. Another synth quickly joins the track. A chopped vocal element gradually fades in. The bassline also fades in a bit. A snare roll then makes an appearance. Parts of the drum kit drop out as another synth joins the track. A synth effect makes an appearance and the drum kit continues. The bassline fills out. High hats fill out a bit.

Some synth strings sweep in and a heavily reverb filtered kick makes an appearance. Most elements then drop out. A synth melody appears along with the main vocals. Parts of a drum kit join the track as the vocals drop out. After another kick with reverb makes an appearance, the drum kit drops out. A snare roll makes an appearance along with a vocal effect.

After a synth effect, the drum kit returns along with the main compliment of synths. The vocal returns with another round in the main chorus. After the vocals end, another synth melody joins the track. A snare roll makes an appearance and the vocals return. After that, most of the track drops out, leaving just the vocals. A kick drill makes a lengthy appearance. Synths gradually fade in and the vocals drop out shortly after. The main synths take over from there. A piano then joins the track.

The vocals then return after that for a brief appearance. Small parts then drop out after a cymbal crash. After another short appearance of the main vocals, the vocals then drop back a bit and have a chopped sound to them. Several synths also drop out as well. A reverse cymbal and normal cymbal crash makes an appearance as other parts gradually fade out. The chopped vocals also gradually fade out. A snare roll makes an appearance. After an effect, the cymbals lead the track out.

For me, when the track comes together with the main chorus, that’s where this track really shines. The way the synths work so well with the vocals really makes this track sound great. The inclusion of the piano in the latter part of the main portion of the track adds some nice variety here. It all sound great to me.

Now, the only pitfall with this track is that it feels a bit fleeting. Once you get to the main part of the track, I’m really into this one. Unfortunately, I was kind of hoping for more to add some good meat to the track. More lyrics, perhaps, might have done the trick here.

Overall, though, this is definitely a worthwhile track to listen to. When things come together, it sounds great. If it weren’t so fleeting, I would have called it a great track easily. as it stands now, it’s still a very solid track worth listening to.
