Would it really be gaming on a Nintendo console without playing at least one Mario game? In this case, it’s the second one I’ve played for this console.

This game is a curious one because it’s basically a re-release of a Wii-U game. So, I wasn’t entirely sure what to expect when getting into this game, but so far, it’s pretty interesting. It sort of feels like Ratchet & Clank All 4 One where you go from a standard third person perspective you are used to from other games to a birds eye view perspective.

What’s more, there’s a lot of throwback features such as item holding, the world and level naming structure, and even the cat suit. I immediately recognized how much it was blending throwback elements from the 2D games and incorporating them into the 3D environment which I found to be rather interesting. So far, the game has a fairly novel approach at the very least.

I also wanted to hear from you! What are your thoughts on this game? For those who have played this game, what did you think? Was it a really fun game or was the blend of 2D and 3D elements a bit on the odd side to you?

For those who have played other Mario games, but not this one, what are your thoughts on this one? Does this look like a fun game that you’d totally get in to or do you think you are better off sticking with the full 3D adventuring style of gameplay?

Also, for those who have never played a Mario game, what are your thoughts on this one? Does this look like a game you might consider trying or are you interested in completely different genre’s? Let us know in the comments below!
