First Impression: Dying Light (XBox One)

Welcome to the 215th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Xbox One game, Dying Light for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

This is another one of those games I have heard of, but never really played or know much about. So, I was largely going into this one cold, only finding out that it was a zombie game when I saw the cover art.

One thing is for sure, I could definitely see the parallels between this and other games. There’s the subtle similarities between this and other games that I noticed right off the bat. That includes similarities to Left 4 Dead 2 (namely the setting at least) and The Last of Us (which is suggested by what looks like a crafting system).

I’m not entirely sure what to make of this one yet, so I am going to be curious to see how the rest of this game plays.

I wanted to hear from you, though. For those who have played this game, what are your thoughts? Was this a great survival horror game that had enjoyable elements or did you think this was just more of a dime a dozen games that was largely forgettable?

For those who have played the sequel, but not this game, what are your thoughts on what you saw here? Did you think this might be an interesting game to try or do you think one game is more than enough for you?
