First Impression: Killzone Shadow Fall (Playstation 4)

Welcome to the 154th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the Playstation 4 game, Killzone Shadow Fall for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

This wound up being a bit of an unusual pick up for me. Normally, I like to try earlier games in the franchise and get a feel for how the series developed. In this instance, I wound up picking up this game, confusing it for a similarly titled game “Killing Floor”, wondering how a multiplayer like game would play as a single player game. Well, I would later find out that this is a completely different series, so this was an admittedly unexpected game to grab.

Well, regardless of how I came across this title, I decided to give this a spin anyway to see what it’s like. In making it as far as I did (and missing the odd bit of dialogue because I was talking over some of it), I didn’t exactly get a very clear feel for how this game plays. So, I’ll probably find out some time later how this game plays a bit better. It seems the pacing wasn’t exactly supportive of a 10 minute first impression. Sometimes, that happens. I never know what I’m going to get with these video’s sometimes.

Anyway, I wanted to hear from you. For those who have played this game, what did you think? Was this a game that flew a bit under the radar and more people should try it or is it just another dime a dozen sci-fi shooter for you?

For those who have played other games in the franchise, but not necessarily this one, what did you think of what you saw? Does this have a degree of familiarity or did you already get your fill with this series?
