Welcome to the 95th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the XBox 360 game, Perfect Dark Zero for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

As I mentioned in the video, this is one franchise that had me asking “what happened to this franchise?” When Perfect Dark was released on the N64, it made a huge splash by being a spiritual successor to Goldeneye 007. When I played that game, it wound up being one of the best FPS experiences I’ve ever had. So, it’s a pretty big surprise that there wasn’t a particularly huge line of games that followed. Perfect Dark Zero, however, wound up being released and apparently served as a prequel to the events in Perfect Dark, so I was interested to try this game and see how it played. From what I’ve heard, it left a lot to be desired, but I wanted to see for myself.

For those who have played this game, what did you think of it? Was it a really good experience or did you prefer the original? Did you even play the original for a point of comparison? Was this game a great experience or were there other games you preferred?

For those who haven’t played this game, but played the original, does this game look like an interesting one to play or is it too much of a marked departure from the original game?

For those who played neither, does this look like an interesting game to play or does the references to an earlier era of gaming seem archaic to you? Let us know in the comments below!

This video is part of our first impression video series. Below is a list of 50 of the previously made first impression video’s we’ve made in the past:
