Welcome to the 198th instalment of our first impression video series. Today, we are playing the XBox One game, Doom for the first time. You can check out the video directly on YouTube or in the embed below:

Ahh, yes, Doom. Before Doom, there was Doom. After Doom, there was Doom. Confusing? Absolutely. After all, there was an old DOS title with this very same title. We aren’t playing the DOS version today. Instead, we are playing the 2016 version of Doom.

One thing is very certain about this instalment of Doom, it is a much different pace than other instalments. In other instalments, you were using cover and slowly working your way around corners and picking off demons and zombies one at a time. This game is definitely not that. Instead, you are apparently getting rather up close and personal with these monsters and taking them all down that way. So, definitely not your typical Doom game.

I’m still trying to determine how much I like the new mechanics of this game, but so far, the game seems to be interesting. Definitely looking forward with having the chance to sit down and get further into the game at the very least.

I also wanted to hear from you. What did you think of this game? For those who have played this game, did you really like the fast-paced action this game provided or did you think that didn’t mix well with the FPS style of play you are used to with this franchise?

For those who have played other Doom games, but not this game, what did you think of what you saw? Does this look like an interesting take on the FPS genre or is this too much of a deviation to what you are used to?

Also, for those who have never played any of the Doom games, what are your thoughts on this video? Does this look like a game that might be interesting to you or do you prefer a more relaxed style of game? Let us know in the comments below!

This video is part of our first impression video series. Below is a list of 50 of the previously made first impression video’s we’ve made in the past:
