Review: Above & Beyond Pres. OceanLab – On a Good Day (Above & Beyond Club Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Above & Beyond Pres. OceanLab – On a Good Day (Above & Beyond Club Mix).

This track was released in 2009 as a single along with 7 other versions.

The biggest part of this track is definitely the vocals. There is the general vocals which sounds great. What is added is the same kind of vocals that were subtly filtered.

What makes the vocals better is the lyrics. The track builds up so much and climaxes right on the chorus that some say gives people goosebumps. I’m inclined to agree with that assessment.

While all that alone makes this track great, what makes this track even better is the guitar element thrown in. While not necessarily hugely prominent, small moments of it is added to just punctuate the emotion in this track.

To make this track fantastic was also the inclusion of piano elements throughout some of the non-vocal portions of the track. It compliments the vocal portions so well.

The synth was also very well done. Besides the bassline, the synth doesn’t necessarily occupy a huge part of the track. Still, they do add plenty of backing sound that just adds such a nice amount of polish to the track.

The way this track flows is nicely done because it holds every great element together nicely. The drop, the chorus, the buildup, and everything else just works so well.

Overall, the only question I have is, “How can people listen to this track and not say ‘wow’?” The emotion is so powerful in this track. The vocals are excellent. The lyrics are great. The guitar was great to hear. The piano was a nice touch. All I can conclude is the fact that this was an excellent track. Highly recommended.
