Review: Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life (Rock)

This review covers the pop rock track Third Eye Blind – Semi-Charmed Life.

This track was released in 1997 on a self-titled album.

If you’ve lived through the 90’s like I have, the band name might sound familiar. However, once you listen to this particular track, then you’ll immediately recognize the track if you didn’t already as it was heavily played track from the late 90’s to early 2000’s.

The most distinctive part of the track is the chorus where where the vocals sing non-distinct words as well as two words that is another phrase for farewell. These parts give the track an upbeat sound.

While that was a good part of the track, there were few other good portions to be had here. The lyrics had a lot going on. With the fast-paced vocals throughout the versus, the meaning of the track actually gets rather lost and muddied.

The guitars were decent enough. While they added a lot of presence to the track, they really didn’t do a whole lot else.

As a result, this track is both memorable and highly forgettable. It’s easy to recognize the chorus, but the rest of the track is just muddied and forgettable. The guitars do try and lend some quality to the track, but do little beyond give the track some presence. While this track may be good for sampling and incorporation into other things, it’s not very good for much else. So, probably a good thing it never made it past the 2010’s in the end.
