Review: Ellis Vanghoul – Nerdlead (Psytrance)

By Drew Wilson

This review covers the psytrance track Ellis Vanghoul – Nerdlead.

This particular track was released in 2006 on the compilation album Monkey Mission.

This track starts off with some pitch bent synth that slides up into very high pitches before launching itself into a full psytrance track. A very interesting aspect of this track is that it features a sizable collection of small melodies that builds up increasingly throughout the track. This is definitely different from other psytrance tracks that I’ve heard where there’s a general melody throughout that is either repeated, evolves, or builds up to some sort of climax. I thought this was a creative take on how a track is formed.

An overall general psytrance sound does tie it all together. This track simply doesn’t get lost in the huge variety of sounds found throughout this track which, I felt, was quite an accomplishment. It’s hard to really find any fault in this track.

Overall, I felt that this was a great track. Certainly worth listening to.
