Review: DJ Promo – Escape from the Hostile (Hardcore) Drew Wilson | August 17, 2016 This review covers the gabber hardcore track DJ Promo – Escape from the Hostile. This track was released in 2002 on the mixed album Masters Of Hardcore Chapter X – Theundergroundsagacontinues… What I found interesting was the somewhat uplifting melodies that are throughout the track. I thought that this added an interesting sound to the overall track. The uplifting sounds was also mixed down into a hardcore structure. While this may make this sound like this would be a happy hardcore track, this certainly doesn’t fall into the happy hardcore genre. It does, however, mix well whether it’s the clap sound or the hardcore kick. The voice samples throughout really gave this track a hardcore edge to the overall sound. Part of the messaging seems to be surrounding the idea of making it big. Another part is showing off a sense of superiority to others. As a result, I would say that this gave this track some well realized energy. Overall, I thought this was a pretty good track. It has good energy, good melodies, and it was all well mixed down well. Definitely worth listening to if you ask me. Score 7/10 Drew Wilson on Twitter: @icecube85 and Google+.
