Happy New Year: Looking Forward to What’s in Store for 2021

It’s now 2021 and Drew Wilson talks about both the accomplishments of 2020 and what the goals are for 2021.

It is official: we are finally putting 2020 behind us. Like so many others, I think to myself: thank goodness. What an awful year that was!

Just the same, though, we did accomplish a lot last year. As mentioned in my Christmas message, we were able to get a whole lot done on the site. This time last year, there wasn’t even a Wiki at all. Today, we were not only able to put together a Wiki and post nearly 2,000 pages on it. This increases the overall size of this site by close to 50%.

In addition to this, we were able to greatly extend the reach of both our site and podcast. I mean, before, we had just four social buttons with one pointing to the out of date Google+. Today, we have, well, a heck of a lot more to say the least. Suffice to say, it has never been easier to discover and follow Freezenet.

Of course, as we move forward, the question is, what is in store for Freezenet for 2021? Well, we can’t answer all of that, but we do have some idea’s. For one, you’ll be seeing more from us on YouTube. What specifically? Well, you’ll have to wait and see for that one.

Another thing we plan on working on is building up the Wiki even further than before. Already, we have 9 shows archived as well as multiple pages describing artists and labels. The Wiki even supports two genre’s of music at this point. Well, as mentioned previously, we hope to expand the genre’s of music on offer for the Wiki. Even more, we are hoping to archive even more shows in the future. This will broaden the variety of music you can discover on the Wiki even further.

Finally, the aim is to expand our reach on more platforms. This applies both to the website itself as well as the podcast. The reach is already quite significant, but we know that there are gaps to fill still. This year, the aim is to fill those remaining gaps.

As usual, digital rights is why so many of you come here. Digital rights is currently under considerable strain. What is needed is that third party independent voice to report on these issues. We will continue to do everything we can to be that third party voice by bringing you the news like we have been since we opened the site. with your help, we can not only continue to be that voice, but also strengthen that voice as well.

For those of you who have been with us already, we thank you for what support you have been able to give us. Without readers, listeners, and viewers like you, this effort will very likely not be possible to continue.

To everyone, Happy New Year from all of us on Freezenet!
