TorrentFreak Briefly Goes Down After DDOS Attack Drew Wilson | January 12, 2015 There have been plenty of sites hit with DDOS (Distributed Denial of Service) attacks lately. One of the latest hit with such an attack was TorrentFreak. DDOS attacks seem to be on the rise. One of the latest hit with such an attack was Torrentfreak, a blog about BitTorrent. The attack happened earlier today. According to IsItDownRightNow, the website was down at 2:00AM. TorrentFreak noted the downtime saying, “TF has some issues, we hope to be back online soon.” Two hours after that post, TorrentFreak said, “And we’re down again…” An hour later, they reported that they were up again. Reports suggest that LizardSquad’s Lizard Stresser may have been involved. LizardSquad commented, “An account registered with a @MPAA email is currently attacking @torrentfreak from lizardstresser.” TorrentFreak pressed LizardSquad for further details, but was refused. Sometimes, attackers return for another round of attacks on a site, but other times, a different target ends up being selected. It is not known who was behind it exactly as no one to our knowledge has claimed responsibility. Drew Wilson on Twitter: @icecube85 and Google+.
