Review: World Party – Way Down Now (Rock)

This review covers the alternative rock track World Party – Way Down Now.

This track was released in 1990 on the album Goodbye Jumbo.

The track starts with a filtered down guitar shred. After this, a more general guitar sound layered with piano takes over. The vocals then take over, going straight into the main chorus.

It doesn’t take long before the track goes into a verse. The track then quickly goes back into the main chorus. After this, the track pulls back and goes into the next verse. After this, the track goes into an instrumental section for a brief moment. The vocals then go into the next main chorus.

The track then goes into another instrumental section with a sprinkling of vocals. After that, the track fades out.

One thing I will say is that there is nothing that sticks out to me as bad in this track. The mastering is decent as nothing is really drowned out. The lyrics are articulate enough. Even the instruments used aren’t all that bad.

The problem I have with this track is that there is nothing exciting or interesting about this track. All this track does is cover the basics of making a passable track, then just leaves it at that. There’s just nothing for me to say, “hey, this is a great track!”

Generally speaking, this is one of those tracks that tick off all the boxes of not being a terrible track. Unfortunately, it neglects to do anything to make the track interesting or exciting either. I want to find something that is impressive with this track, but there’s just nothing there for me to say it is a great track. So, an overall half decent track, but nothing to get excited over.
