Review: Van Halen – Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do) (Rock)

This review covers the hard rock track Van Halen – Don’t Tell Me (What Love Can Do).

This track was released in 1995 on the album Balance.

The track starts off with some guitars and a synth pad in the background. The drum kit and vocals come in after with the vocals taking the track into the first verse. The guitars alternate a bit part way through the verse.

After that, the vocals take the track into the first round of the main chorus with a few lead guitars. Right after, the lead guitars drop out and the vocals take the track into the next verse. The vocals then bring the track into the next round of the main chorus. The vocals then extend this section before the track goes into a bit of a quiet guitar solo.

In the next section, the vocals take the track into the next verse. After that, the vocals then take the track into the main chorus again. The vocals extend the section. From there, an instrumental section then comes in.

From there, the vocals then use pieces of the main chorus as the guitars continue. The track then gradually fades out.

This is one of those tracks that has their strengths and weaknesses. A strength is that the track sounds pretty good when it hits the main chorus. Another strength is the guitars do sound pretty good at times.

At other times, they almost hold back a bit too much and just stick with the shorter notes a bit too much. Another weakness is that the vocals can be a bit hard to understand at times during the verses.

Overall, this is an OK track. It has strengths and weaknesses. The strengths include some of the guitar work and the main chorus. Meanwhile, the weaknesses include difficult to understand verses and some of the guitar work during the verses. An OK track, but nothing to get too excited over.
