Review: Sequential – Prophet (Caladan Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the trance track Sequential – Prophet (Caladan Mix).

This track was released in 1992 as a single.

The track starts off with some synth pads and a waterfall sample. There is another effect, but I’m not sure if it’s an animal sample of a synth effect. A bassline then comes in. A choir element is added. The high hat is also added. Several elements then drop out.

In the next section, there is a bassline, synth effect, synth melody, and kick. A few reverse kicks come in for a brief moment. A synth pad then comes in. Some distorted voice samples come in with a lot of reverberation added to it. That then goes away for a moment before returning again. This section is capped off with a reverse kick.

From there, the bassline continues along with some drum kit elements. A synth pad is also present here. The main high hat returns and is joined by a choir element. A snare is added and is layered with a clap. After a synth effect is added as part of a brief pause, a new synth melody then comes in. Elements then fade away as the synth effect makes a return. The waterfall sample also makes a return. Every element then drops out.

After that, the pads, drum kit, bassline, and synth melody returns. A new synth effect is also added. From there, the track breaks down again, leaving just the synth elements. After this, the last few elements fade out.

One thing I like about the track is that it has great flow. The track pulls back and pushes things every once in a while. This gives the track a nice variety from beginning to end.

Additionally, this track features a nice number of synth melodies and effects. Not only do they sound great, but they are also used very effectively.

This track is definitely more on the ambient side of trance. It’s meant as something to relax to more than to get energized. So, it does require a certain mood for something like this. Still, i certainly has its uses.

Overall, this is a pretty good track. It has a nice flow and features good variety with the various synths and effects. It is a more chilled out track, but it is still certainly worth a listen. A pretty good track all around.
