This review covers the liquid funk drum n bass track Nu:Tone – Can We?
This track was released in 2005 on the album Brave Nu World. The label then released the track for free streaming in 2012.
One thing about this track is the fact that it’s definitely a chilled out track. This in spite of the impression you might get from the very beginning with the prominent drumkit. What really made this a more relaxing track was the vocals that seem to just sit just right in the track. It isn’t too prominent, but they also don’t simply disappear into the background.
The vocals have a very uplifting feel to them. That is part of what makes this track nicely uplifting.
The main melody is largely taken up by the chords. The melody makes a few appearances throughout, but simply drifts in and out. This, in fact, was good because it never really wears out its welcome even though it’s not exactly complex. The complexity is simply reserved through the layers of vocals found in this track.
The bass is pretty decent. It simply provides something deep and warm all the while not taking up too much sound space.
Generally speaking, this was a pretty good track to listen to. It’s definitely something you can play in the background while you do other things. Definitely worth listening to, that’s for sure.
