5 Alternatives to YouTube

We’ve seen many reasons to not like YouTube. There’s the infamous comment section of YouTube, the restrictive nature of the maximum length of each video and the notorious DMCA takedown system. The question then becomes, what alternatives are there to YouTube? Well, we’ve compiled a list of 5 alternatives to YouTube for you to evaluate.

YouTube is quite ubiquitous. You can embed videos on other sites, you can have a share of the revenue made on clips you post and it’s incredibly robust thanks to the backing of Google. Still, that doesn’t necessarily make it a perfect website by any stretch. Some people might ask, “are there websites like YouTube that aren’t YouTube?”

we went around looking for websites that seem to be similar to YouTube and we’ve put together a list of five alternatives to YouTube.

1. Daily Motion

Founded in France and been around since 2005, Daily Motion can easily be seen as a great alternative to YouTube. Numerous categories and a search feature help make the site very usable.

2. Vimeo

Another website that has been around for quite some time. Founded in 2004 and still going strong, this US based video sharing site can easily find the kind of content you are looking for.

3. MyUbo

MyUbo has only been around since about 2007 and certainly has an interface with similarities to that of YouTube.

4. MetaCafe

MetaCafe was founded in 2003. Contains numerous videos and a search feature.

5. UStream

Another well known video site that also shares live streaming content. One of the bigger players in the video sharing world. Founded in 2007.
