This review covers the progressive trance track Solid Globe – North Pole (Thomas Datt Remix).
This track was released in 2003 on an EP. It was released along with 5 other remixes.
The track starts with a kick, a few other elements, and a synth. A reverse cymbal makes an appearance and a few high hats join the track. A vocal sample makes an appearance. An effect then makes an appearance and every other element drops out. After a moment, those elements rejoin the track and a few additional synths join in as well. One synth then comes in more full. Elements briefly drop out after a synth effect.
Those dropped out elements then return. An additional high hat joins the track. Choir elements and a few pads join the track, gradually fading in. Elements then drop out and the drum kit structure alters. A synth effect and a cymbal crash then makes an appearance and most of the elements drop out. A chime-like synth makes an appearance and only one synth remains. The synth drops out and some pads take over.
After a reverse cymbal, the main synth makes an appearance. A few kicks make an appearance and the synth returns. More pads join the track and parts of the drum kit return. A few kicks make another appearance and the main synth drops out somewhat. A second lead synth takes over. The first lead synth drops out and the rest of the track returns along with the secondary synth.
After a few kicks, the first lead synth returns, layered over top of everything else. Filters are applied to the secondary synth. An effect makes an appearance and parts of the drum kit drop out. After another effect, the altered drum kit structure returns before gradually fading out. Everything else then gradually fades out.
From there, the drum kit returns along with a number of synths. A reverse cymbal makes an appearance and a few synths start to fade out. Another effect makes an appearance and the kick and a few other elements in the drum kit drop out. The synths then drop out, leaving a few more minor elements of the drum kit. An effect makes an appearance and a reverse cymbal leads the track out.
One thing I do like about this track is that this has a nice overall sound. From beginning to end, it just has a nice overall pleasant sound to it. The first main synth really pushes this pleasant sound and the secondary synth offsets that first synth, yet still continues that overall pleasant sound.
Another thing I like about the track is that it has a great overall flow. The transitions are clean and so much about it makes great sense.
Overall, this is a solid track worth listening to. It has a nice overall pleasant sound to it. The two main synths work quite well and play off of each other nicely. The flow throughout also works quite well from beginning to end. So, another track that gets a thumbs up from me.
