This review covers the punk rock track Rancid – Out of Control.
This track was released in 2003 on the album Indestructible. It also made an appearance in the game Need for Speed: Underground.
The track starts with a guitar feedback sound. A guitar then joins the track. Right after, the lad guitars join the track.
From there, the vocals join the track for a verse. After a brief isrtumental section, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is capped off with another instrumental section.
The vocals then take the track into the next verse. Right after, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. The guitars then largely take over for a bit and the vocals then lead the track out.
For me, the vocals work very well for a track like this. They really convey the themes of the track quite well. They are also handled in a way that isn’t all that offensive to the ear which is also nice to hear.
Meanwhile, the bass guitar does a great job at anchoring the track down. It is, from time to time, brought out to give the track a nice variety. So, I thought that was well done.
Finally, the lead guitars sound very nice. They really brought the track together quite nicely.
My only complaint about this track is the length. It’s very short and, as a result, makes this track seem a bit more fleeting then it needed to be.
Still, this track has a lot going for it. It’s got great vocals, great guitar work, and a great overall sound. If it weren’t for the length, I’d call it a great track. Still, it’s a very solid track well worth listening to anyway and I’d recommend giving this one a listen.
