This Week in Other News: Week of December 3

In our first edition of this new feature, we find some of the more odd side of things in the news worth sharing that doesn’t quite fit anywhere else.

We here at Freezenet see a whole lot of news stories from around the web. Some are serious while others take on a more peculiar side. Some are just plain outrageous. While weird news isn’t our big focus, we thought we’d devote Sundays to just random things we found around the web throughout the week. So, here is our first edition of “In Other News”:

Another Fake Interpreter Busted

You’d think between the fake interpreter from Nelson Mandela’s memorial, who claimed he was hallucinating and the fake interpreter who showed up during a press briefing for a hurricane Irma press briefing, there would be more rigorous screening for candidates. Well, whether or not that is the case today, it seems fake sign language interpreters keep slipping through. That apparently was the case in Florida this week when another supposedly fake interpreter made it onto TV during a police press conference. In the conference, while police announced the arrest of a murder suspect, people who were hard of hearing could only look on in confusion as many couldn’t understand what the interpreter was even doing. As of that report, there is an investigation into who, if anyone, brought the interpreter into the press briefing in the first place.

Good: Having a Good Laugh. Bad: When Your a Paramedic Treating Someone for a Gun Shot Wound

Some jobs can be quite stressful. So, it’s not always a bad idea to get a good laugh to help you get through your day. If eyewitness accounts are accurate, as a good Samaritan was on the ground suffering from a gun shot wound, the paramedic who showed up laughed saying he was faking it. Unfortunately, he died from his injuries. It may make some people wonder, “What were the paramedics thinking?”

In response, an investigation was launched into the incident.

Mmm… Mustard on Pop-Tarts

Some people like Pop-Tarts. Others like mustard. But mustard on pop-tarts? Well, that may make some peoples stomachs turn. A man from Illinois said over Twitter that he loves spreading mustard on his pop-tarts. He even went so far as to say that if you don’t like mustard on your pop-tarts, you’re not from Illinois. The tweets caught the attention of Kellogg’s and it seems they aren’t exactly thrilled with the concept. In response, they alerted Illinois State Police to the incident. One officer offered to handle the incident due to the severity of the crime. The offending tweets have since been deleted.

I don’t know about you, but this idea doesn’t sound that appetizing to me. Still, it’s probably better than pizza and spaghetti flavoured slushies or buffalo sauce latte’s.

You Can Only Just Read the Article

Politics in the US have gone pretty far off the deep end these days. Whether it’s the politicians or the supporters, it makes you wonder if reality TV is even needed sometimes. In this next article, I simple cannot even find the words to describe what I’m reading, so here’s what you start with:

Armed Man Tells Police Trump Ordered Him to Fight Lizard People

“The man went on to describe how President Trump had called his house in Eatonville and warned him that the lizard people were coming and that the alpha dragon had already taken his family hostage,” the sheriff’s department said

… and that’s just the beginning of the article. Yes, it gets better.
