Welcome to episode 8 of my news video’s. Today’s topic is on the CBC refusing to fact check their report on social media.
Welcome to episode 8 of my video news content. This video can be found directly on YouTube or in the embed below:
In March, the CBC published and aired a report with inaccurate details about social media. Specifically, this dealt with the highly problematic report on world happiness. The inaccuracies said that social media is inherently harmful and the result of mental health problems. When I flagged the inaccuracies and reported it to the CBC, their response absolutely shocked me. Not only did they flatly refused to fix their reports, they also flatly rejected the scientific evidence I provided that proved my point.
The response was absolutely stunning to me as a journalist and when I published the response from the CBC, my website absolutely went viral as a result. While I’m baffled at the refusal to fact-check, I can at least appreciate the free traffic I got to my site as a result, so I guess that’s something anyway. Since there was some questions about this whole CBC scandal, I thought I’d also use this video to answer some of the questions I have been seeing about this as well.
