This review covers the progressive trance track Young Parisians – U Write The Rules (Solarstone Remix).
This track was released in 2003 as a single.
The track starts with parts of a drum kit and some effects. A synth then joins the track. A vocoded voice sample then makes an appearance with a delay effect applied. The voice sample makes another appearance with a second effect applied to it.
After a few effects, a bassline joins the track. Another synth then makes periodic appearances. Another synth makes an additional appearance. The voice sample then makes an appearance. A synth then gradually fades in with filtering gradually pulled back.
A drop then hits, leaving a synth and a few effects. The voice sample makes another couple of appearances. A sweep then enters the track and a guitar element joins the track. A few other effects make appearances as well. Reverse elements make a brief appearance before the drum kit returns.
The guitar then drops out. The vocoded voice sample makes another appearance. It appears again with the altered effect. Another synth joins the track, fading in slightly in the process. After a few reverse percussion elements, the guitar rejoins the track. A percussion element makes a subtle drill effect. The secondary synth gradually fades in again.
That guitar element then drops out. The voice sample then makes another appearance along with the altered effect. Some of the synths fade out as the voice sample makes a few more appearances. An effect makes an appearance and the rest of the synths drop out. The effect makes another appearance and a percussion with reverberation leads the track out.
One positive aspect of this track is the guitar element. This adds a nice melodic aspect to the track.
Another positive aspect is the vocoded voice sample. The way it is vocoded down works quite well in helping to give the track a laid back feel to it all.
That laid back overall sound is definitely also coming from some of the synths as well.
Overall, this is a pretty decent track. It’s got a nice guitar element and a good vocoded voice sample. The production quality is pretty solid and sports a solid laid back mood from beginning to end. A solid track all around.
