Review: Solicitous – Rider in the Sky (Original Vocal Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Solicitous – Rider in the Sky (Original Vocal Mix).

This track was released in 2003 as a single.

The track starts with a reverse cymbal. After that, elements of the drum kit join the track along with a bassline synth. A synth effect makes an appearance along with a cymbal crash shortly after. After a few effects, a sample of a passing jet aircraft makes an appearance.

From there, additional synths join the track. Synth pads make an appearance. After that, the vocals join the track along with backup vocals.

When the aircraft sample makes another appearance, elements drop out. After that, the rest of the track drops out including the vocals. All that’s left is a bassline and a synth. After a few snare and cymbal hits, a few effects make appearances. The vocals then rejoin the track. Those vocals have reverberation effects applied to them. A synth along with the drum kit rejoins the track. The bassline joins in shortly after. The vocals go through a verse.

From there, the drum kit fills out as the vocals continue into the main chorus. Synth pads can also be heard on this part of the track as well.

Numerous elements drop out as the vocals continue on with another verse. Eventually, just the pads and a synth is all that’s left. After an effect, the pads drop out and the synth and kick take over. As a few synths return, the vocals rejoin the track again. The vocals go into a main chorus as the rest of the track rejoins the track. The jet sample makes another appearance.

When the vocals finish, various synths drop out. The jet sample makes an appearance before a synth effect makes an appearance. Most of the remaining synths drop out. The rest of the track gradually fades out and the jet sample and effect leads the track out.

One thing I do like about the track is the vocals. They really make this track work quite well from beginning to end. What I also like about the vocals is the fact that they have a complex arrangement of vocals which is always nice to hear in a trance track.

The synths balance the track out nicely and does a good job at offsetting the vocal sounds as well.

Additionally, the track flows pretty well throughout. It might be a bit drawn out at times, but it still ends up working quite well overall.

Generally speaking, this is a very solid track worth listening to. It’s got great vocals and good synths throughout. The flow is quite nice, though it can feel a bit drawn out at times. Still, I call this a track well worth listening to.
