This review covers the punk rock track Social Distortion – Under My Thumb.
This track was released in 1995 on the album Mainliner: wreckage from the Past.
The track starts with the lead guitars, drum kit, and vocals taking the track straight into the main chorus.
After a very short verse, the vocals take the track straight into the main chorus again. After that, a guitar solo comes in.
From there, the vocals take the track into another round of the main chorus. The backup vocals make an appearance here as well. The guitars and drum kit then lead the track out.
One thing I notice is that not only is this track short, but it is also almost all main chorus. The verse work is, at best, one or two lines long. So, there’s not much there in terms of lyrics.
The guitars are pretty decent. The guitar solo actually sounds pretty good. While a bit shorter than others, it still sounds pretty good. So, I don’t actually have a problem with it.
The vocals sound decent enough, but nothing huge.
Overall, this track is decent, but nothing big. The track is almost all main chorus and is quite short. The vocals sound decent. Meanwhile, the guitars is probably the best part of the whole track. The guitar solo sounds pretty good and does a good job backing the vocals. Do, a decent track, but not one that will last.
