Review: Simple Plan – I’m Just a Kid (Rock)

By Drew Wilson

This review covers the rock track Simple Plan – I’m Just a Kid.

This particular track was released in 2002 on the album “No Pads, No Helmets… Just Balls”.

This particular track is often appealing to high school aged students for its lyrics. Worries about fitting in and being alone are themes that do crop up with people of that age.

Another strength of this track is the well produced mix of guitars throughout the track that really helps relay the emotion in this track. The audio levels have a good balance throughout.

I found that this track isn’t exactly free of weaknesses. The lyrics to have that edge of cliche. Most pronounced is the last portion of the lead in to the first instance of the main chorus. I felt that this was a bit cringe worthy given the number of strengths this track has.

Still, I found this track was well put together in spite of this. Overall, I would say this was a very good track to listen to – especially for a particular subset of the music listening audience.

Score
7/10
