This review covers the progressive house track Sander Van Doorn – Koko.
This track was released in 2011 as a single.
A great element in this track is the overall flow of this track. The main melody does repeat, but in multiple forms. Sometimes the melody is merely a whistle-like sound while it can also be a chord-like string synth that is front and center of the track.
The effects that were thrown in definitely help make this track a pleasant one to listen to. From the white sound to the side-chained effects, they do add plenty to the track.
The only downside to this track is that it really does little to elevate itself beyond a nice melody and good flow. If something extra was thrown in to carry this track beyond just something that sounds good, I’d definitely have a good chance at calling it a great track, but the ambition just wasn’t there.
That’s not to say this was a bad track by any stretch. I found this to be a good one to listen to. The melody worked and the flow was great. I just wished it was a bit more ambitious. Still definitely worth listening to though as I’m sure it can put a smile on peoples faces.
