Review: Roxette – Joyride (Pop)

This review covers the pop rock track Roxette – Joyride.

This track was released in 1991 on the album Joyride.

The track starts wit the sound of a fair. The vocals come in and the track’s actual sound takes over. This involves electric guitars and a drum kit. The vocals also have backup vocals making a brief appearance.

when the track hits the main chorus, the track is also backed by other elements like synths.

Shortly after, the track goes into the verse. The track quickly transitions to the main chorus. This is capped off with an instrumental section that goes back and forth between a guitar solo and whistling. Keys make an appearance as well as brass elements.

The vocals then make a brief appearance. The track stops for a moment before going into another main chorus. The main chorus repeats once. After this, an instrumental section takes over. After that, the track fades back out with the sounds of a fair again.

What I will say is that the main chorus does sound great. The way the vocals and various instruments come together works very well.

Another thing that gets a thumbs up from me is the instrumental sections of the track. They do add a fair bit of quality to the overall sound.

My one gripe is that I would have liked to have seen more verse work. As it stands now, this track is largely main chorus as far as the lyrics are concerned. So, it does make this track a bit anti-climactic that the lyrics don’t really hold up much here.

Still, this is a pretty solid track. It has a great chorus and nicely done instrumental sections. The fact that the lyrics are bit on the skimpy side does hold this track up a fair bit. Overall, it’s a pretty solid performing track with a few flaws.
