Review: Rob Zombie – Meet the Creeper (Rock)

This review covers the industrial metal track Rob Zombie – Meet the Creeper.

This track was released in 1998 on the album Hellbilly Deluxe. The track also appears in the Playstation game Twisted Metal III. We previously reviewed the track Superbeast on the same album (also from the same game), and that got a great score, so we thought we’d try this track to see if it is just as good.

The track starts off with some guitar effects. A voice sample comes in before the lead guitars and drum kit come in. The vocals then come in for the first verse. The lead guitars drop out, but some synth effects replace it.

After some additional drums, the vocals then come in for the main chorus. This is backed by the lead guitars. This section is capped off with an instrumental section.

From there, the vocals take the track into the next verse backed by the same things as found in the verse. After that, the vocals take the track into the next round in the main chorus much like the first time. The exception here is that there is some additional vocal elements that make a subtle appearance. This section is capped off with a completely different instrumental section.

The vocals then repeat the first verse before going into the main chorus again. The vocals then extend the main chorus with the help of some backup vocals. A voice sample then leads the track out.

One thing I really like about this track is the main chorus. It really does an excellent job at personifying that sense of evil. The lead guitars also help make this section of the track a joy to listen to.

The verse work is also well done. They round out the track very nicely. Although elements of one verse is repeated, there is already a lot going on in the track that this isn’t as big of a deal as it could have been.

The subtle use of synths for the quieter parts of the track are nicely thought out. This helps differentiate between verse and chorus. It also allows the lead guitars to give the main chorus more power. In this case, I would give this concept a thumbs up.

Overall, this is a great track. It has that sense of evil throughout that is very well realized. The lead guitars sound great and the synths sound well done as well. The vocals are also nicely done. So, a track that gets no complaints from me. A great track.
