Review: Rob Zombie – Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix) (Rock)

This review covers the hard rock track Rob Zombie – Dragula (Hot Rod Herman Remix).

This track was released in 1998 as part of a single. It was also part of the official soundtrack of Gran Turismo 2.

When it came to video games and movies, either this track or the original showed up plenty of times. Chances are, if you lived through the late 90’s, you’ve heard this track at least once or twice somewhere.

This remix incorporates elements of breakbeat into the track, but still sticks to the overall rock genre as a whole. The mixing and stuttering vocals seem to enhance what was already there in the original version.

This is the kind of thing you would expect to hear in old Halloween parties. The lyrics really encapsulates the whole evil zombie nicely – especially with the various references to death.

The rock guitars adds to the overall epic sound, punctuating the rock sound. It even gives off the emotional sense of invulnerability. This only adds dimension to the overall track.

The only problem is that some lyrics are sometimes hard to hear, leading to misinterpretation of what the actual lyrics are. This only proves to be a minor problem here.

Overall, this was a very well produced track. The theme of evil zombies is well-realized here. The guitars add a nice layer of sound and emotion. The synth and breakbeat elements add to the sound, not to mention the stuttering vocals adding to the quality. A great track overall.
