Review: Quicksand – Fazer (Rock)

This review covers the alternative metal track Quicksand – Fazer.

This track was released in 1993 on the album Slip.

The track starts with a couple of drum hits. The guitars then come in as the drum kit continues. From there, the vocals come in for a first verse.

Shortly after, the vocals take the track into the first round of the main chorus. This capped off with a brief instrumental section.

After that, the vocals take the track into the next verse. After that, the vocals take the track into the next round of the main chorus. From there, the track hits an instrumental section with an alternate guitar. Another guitar comes in and becomes the next guitar solo.

From there, the vocals take the track into the next verse. A brief instrumental section comes in. The vocals then continue for a moment. Another instrumental section then comes in. These guitars then leads the track out.

One thing is for sure, this track does start strong. The guitars sound great and it sets things up nicely. From there, that’s where the track starts dropping in quality. The vocals are OK, but unfortunately, some of the lyrics are lost. I’m not sure if it’s the mastering or how the lyrics are sung, but some of the lyrics end up becoming hard to understand.

Another feature of this track is the use of multiple guitars. Individually, the guitar all sound pretty good. Together, they need some sort of set up to transition to the guitar. Unfortunately, the track doesn’t really transition well. As a result, the guitars end up just popping in unannounced. Because of this, the track sounds like it is hastily put together and a bit disorganized.

Overall, this is an half decent track. It starts off strong with the guitars the way they are. While the initial set-up sounds great, once the vocals come in, the track starts veering towards the realm of mediocrity. Some of the lyrics get lost in the mix somehow. So, in the end, it’s a half decent track, but nothing huge.
