Review: The Qemists – Warrior Sound (Drum N Bass)

This review covers the drum n bass track The Qemists – Warrior Sound.

This track was released in 2016 on the album Warrior Sound. Also making an appearance on this album is the track No More which got a particularly good review here.

A feature that always gets my attention is the fact that this track mixes rock elements into a drum n bass track. So, this one has already got my attention.

The track has a vocal sample at the beginning that sets the tone for the rest of the track. That tone is class-bases combativeness. The artists vocals also do come in, but only briefly. While they belt out the small amount of lyrics nicely, they do have that edge of forced lyrics. It’s very subtle, but it is there. That, however, is probably my only complaint about this whole track.

The rock guitars worked very well in bringing in energy to the track. As this track is largely instrumental, they need to bring in some great sound. They do so quite successfully.

The growling synth and bassline backed the guitars very nicely. They added some nice dimension to the overall sound of the track.

There is some great flow to the track. The track manages to turn things into high gear while also backing things off for some dynamic sound.

Overall, this was a great track. The only reason I won’t go past 8 is because some of the lyrics had a hint of being forced. Still, this track had a lot of great elements such as a nicely chosen voice sample, great electric guitars, nicely done growling synth, and, overall, great energy. A great track overall.

Score
8/10
