This review covers the ambient downtempo track Planet Bliss – Cold Alien.
Because both ArtistServer and the artists official website went offline, it is impossible to offer an official year of this tracks release. However, metadata obtained by Freezenet suggests that this was was released in 2005 and the Wayback machine shows that this track was released for free initially. This track has since been re-released under a Creative Commons license in 2013 on the compilation album Cyan Music Chill Out Sessions V​.​1.
The initial light melody in the beginning flows nicely as other elements are brought into the track. This certainly gave it a nice relaxing feel right away.
The other melodies that waft in and out of the track really gave a nice dimension to this track, making it constantly varied and interesting.
The light drumkit worked pretty well giving this track a nice amount of energy, but not in any overbearing way. Instead, it just kept the track interesting more than anything else.
The only thing that doesn’t quite work for me in this track is the name. In the beginning of the track, I can definitely see the title working for the track, but the later, higher energy portions of the track, I’m not entirely sure I see the title as entirely suitable. That really, is my only nitpick of this track. Take away the whole title, and this track works nicely with no issues for me.
Generally, this is a great track to listen to when you want to chill out and relax. If you want something that is different and not overbearing, but still interesting to listen to, I would definitely recommend this track. If you are a fan of ambient music and haven’t heard this track, I would also say to give this track a listen as you wouldn’t be disappointed by it. Great all around.
