Review: Pitchshifter – Microwaved (Rock)

This review covers the industrial rock track Pitchshifter – Microwaved.

This track was released in 1998 on the album www.pitchshifter.com. This track also appeared in the game Twisted Metal III.

One interesting element in this track is the inclusion of Drum N Bass elements. These elements don’t stick around for long, but they do make an appearance. These elements do help break up the track nicely between the main chorus and the verses.

The vocals were interesting. They have an interesting way of hitting higher notes. The vocals have much more treble than any heavy bass to them. As a result, they actually help make the track sound unique compared to other bands.

During the chorus, the electric guitars really shine through. They ultimately make the track quite successful.

There is one unfortunate aspect of this track: mastering. The levels of both the guitars and the vocals are similar. Because the vocals hit certain frequencies, they do need some help to stand out. Unfortunately, that help wasn’t present. As a result, some of the lyrics are hard to understand thanks largely due to the fact that they get drowned out somewhat.

Still, this wasn’t a bad track. It has its merits. The guitars were well done and the drum n bass elements were a nice surprise. If the mastering was better, it would be a very good track. So, I’ll say that it’s pretty good.
