Review: Outblast & Angerfist – The Dominators 2009 Refix (Hardcore)

This review covers the gabber hardcore track Outblast & Angerfist – The Dominators 2009 Refix.

This track was released in 2009 as part of the compilation album Masters Of Hardcore Chapter XXVII – Design The Future. This track was also made available by the artist for free streaming in 2010.

One interesting element in this track is the use of a disclaimer as part of the track. A disclaimer as part of a track can very easily make a track sound awkward among other things. In this case, I thought that it actually worked well for the track. It was nicely woven into the overall sound of the track and it wasn’t repeated at all in the rest of the track. This made this part more of a nice touch rather than what could easily have been an overused sample.

Another great thing about this track was the overall flow. The way different portions of the track transitioned from one to another was also very well done.

The choir elements did help a lot in the buildup towards the main chorus.

The lead synth and main melody helped make this track great. The slight morphing into the swing rhythm it did really added to the overall melody.

The chopped samples also added an interesting texture to the overall track that gave it so much more dimension.

Overall, I thought this was a well produced hardcore anthem-like track. Great melody, interesting morphing swing rhythm, and the samples used worked to this tracks advantage. I don’t see any real downsides to this track, so I would say it was excellent overall.

Score
9/10
