This review covers the punk rock track MxPx – Heard That Sound.
This track was released in 2005 on the album Panic. This track also made an appearance on the game Burnout Revenge.
The track starts with a guitar. The vocals quickly join the track. Then, the lead guitars and bass join. Shortly after, the drum kit joins the track as the vocals drop out.
From there, the lead guitars drop out as the vocals take the track into a verse. After a few hits from the drum kit, the lead guitars join the track as the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is capped off with a guitar solo.
Then, the lead guitars drop out, leaving some feedback for a bit. The vocals take the track into the next verse. After a bit, the lead guitars re-join the track as the vocals take the track into another round of the main chorus. This is caped off with a different guitar solo. The vocal then re-join the track. After that, the vocals go non-lyrical as the backup vocals get some filtering.
After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. An instrumental section then follows. The guitars then lead the track out.
For me, the main highlight of this track is definitely the main chorus. Not only does everything come together so nicely, but the guitars do some subtle things that really elevate this track.
In addition to this, the track really nicely lays out the different sections. Interspersed are different instrumental sections that give this track some very nice variety throughout.
What really sets this track apart is managing to really nailing the emotion. When listening to this one, you just can’t help but think about positive things in the past. If you wanted a track to mark an occasion, this is definitely a track I would recommend.
Overall, this is quite the great track. I really could listen to this track for days. It really is that good. It has that upbeat positive memory theme going for it. The guitar work is nicely varied throughout to keep this one fresh from beginning to end. All of this comes together so nicely in the main chorus. Overall, quite the great track that I definitely highly recommend.
