Review: Masterboy – Show Me Colours (Maxi Mix) (Pop)

This review covers the pop dance track Masterboy – Show Me Colours (Maxi Mix).

This track was released in 1996 as a single.

The track starts off with some vocals doing non-lyrical vocals. This is backed by some pads. When the vocals hit the lyrical section, a synth melody comes in as a backing element. The vocals are basically in the main chorus.

From there, the vocals go back to being non-lyrical as the drum kit comes in. A different synth melody comes in. After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus. This is capped off with an instrumental section. The synth melody is swapped out for another synth melody.

After that, male vocals come in for some rapping lyrics. This basically serves as a verse. The female vocals then come back for a bridge. After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus again. This section is capped off with another instrumental section which matches the first time it comes in.

From there, the male vocals come in for another round of rapping out another verse. After that, the female vocals come back for the bridge and subsequent main chorus. Another instrumental section comes in the same as before.

The track then drops, leaving a simple synth melody and drum kit. The bassline then comes in.

After that, the female vocals come back, backed only by some synth pads. The drum kit then rejoins the track along with a number of synths. After that, the vocals take the track into the main chorus again. The instrumental section then returns again the same as before. A kick then hits and the track drops out.

The main chorus does work pretty well. I thought that the vocals combined with the synth and bassline all came together quite nicely.

The male rapping vocals were decent enough. They actually offset the main chorus in a pretty decent manner.

Also, the bassline gives the track a nice rhythm overall. It serves as a way to give the track some warmth, but also gives the track decent rhythm in the process too.

Overall, this is a pretty decent track. It has good vocals, a good main chorus, and good rapping vocals as well. So, a decent one all around.

Score
7/10
