Review: Lisa Miskovsky – Still Alive (The Theme From Mirror’s Edge™ Radio Edit) (Pop)

This review covers the pop track Lisa Miskovsky – Still Alive (The Theme From Mirror’s Edge™ Radio Edit).

This track was released in 2008 on the album Still Alive (The Theme From Mirror’s Edge™) (The Remixes). Obviously, this comes from the game Mirror’s Edge.

The track starts with a piano element. From there, the main vocals kick in backed with stringed elements and some kicks. From there, the guitar elements kick in to get the track moving. The main chorus then hits. The chorus ends with a cymbal crash.

The verse comes in and has some backup vocals. After this, the backup vocals back the next main chorus.

From there, the track then goes into the next verse. It is brief and then transitions into the main chorus a final time. The chorus repeats as the track fades out.

What is great about the track is that the slow BPM helps give the track a rather dreamy sound. When this is added with the higher vocal sounds, there is that high flying majestic sound which really matches with the games themes.

While there isn’t much for backup vocals outside of a more choir sound, they do add a nice touch to the overall sound.

Meanwhile, the lyrics gives this track a nice touch of defiance with a mix of heroism. Nothing I can really complain about here.

My only complaint about this track is the piano is a bit stereotypical and overused. A minor complaint, but I’m not a huge fan of the piano.

Overall, this is a great track. It conveys the general theme of the game very nicely. The vocals are great and backing vocals works nicely. While it isn’t a perfect track with the piano, this track is still worth listening to in my view. A very well done track as far as I’m concerned.
