Review: Interactive – Set Me Free (House)

This review covers the euro house track Interactive – Set Me Free.

This track was released in 1995 on the album Touché.

The track starts with some synth pads. Some synth strings gradually come in in a subtle manner. A synth then comes in as an initial melody. A voice sample then comes in as a speaking part.

From there, a main synth comes in and provides the main melody for the track. This is backed by a cheering sample for a bit. A secondary synth then comes in to back the main melody with some subtle sliding notes. The track then drops again.

A synth melody comes in along with some more of the cheering sample which drops out after a bit. The vocals then come in for a verse. This is backed by an additional synth melody. The vocals then go into the main chorus. This section is capped off with the main synth melody. Elements of the main chorus make appearances in this part of the track as well.

After a snare roll, the track drops again, leaving the cheering sample and some of the drum kit and synth melody. After that, the vocals then come in for another verse. After a brief return to the main chorus, the vocals drop out. The main synth melody comes in again with the vocals making brief appearances in this section again. From there, the main synth leads the track out.

One thing I do like about this track is the main synth melody. It’s quite catchy. The backing elements even work quite well.

Another thing I do like about the track is the vocals. They work quite well. While the lyrics may not be very complex, there is already a lot going in this track to begin with. So, they offset the main synth melody quite nicely. The elements that back the vocals also work quite well as they balance things out just that little bit further.

Overall, this is a great track. It has a catchy main synth melody and nicely done vocals. The overall flow works quite well and it it ultimately a well done track A great one to listen to.
