Review: Imperio – Atlantis (House)

This review covers the euro house track Imperio – Atlantis.

This track was released in 1996 on the album Return to Paradise.

The track starts with a wave sample before the piano comes in. A vocal makes a brief appearance. Some sound samples are then used. The vocals then continue briefly before the drum kit comes in.

From there, the vocals take the track into the first verse. A snare rolls comes in before the track goes into an instrumental section. The various samples make a return.

After that, the track drops, leaving a kick, bassline, and some sonar sounds. The secondary vocals come in as well. This is capped off with another instrumental section complete with some subtle synths and the piano.

From there, the main vocals take the track into the next verse. After a while, the track drops out with only a few synths and a melody. A snare roll comes in as the pianos and various elements make a return. After a bit, the track breaks down. The voice samples and a couple synths lead the track out.

One thing that is unusual about this track is that the main chorus is largely a set of voice samples. Meanwhile, the verses utilize some separate vocals. While an interesting set up, I’m not sure the voice samples of the main chorus really does this track a whole lot of justice in the end. It makes the track seem a bit forced on the lyrics side.

Still, the piano work is nicely done. I like that there is a melody adjustment towards the end to give this track a nice variety.

As for the many samples used, probably the only sample I wasn’t so sure about is the wave at the beginning. After that, they do give this track a good overall sound.

Overall, this is a pretty good track. The samples used along with the vocals used in the verses work quite well. The piano is quite well done. I wasn’t so sure about the vocals used in the main chorus because the lyrics in that seem a bit forced. Still, a pretty good track all around though.

Score
7/10
