Review: Hodel & JP Bates – Mirrors (Original Mix) (Trance)

This review covers the progressive trance track Hodel & JP Bates – Mirrors (Original Mix).

This track was released in 2010 and was released along with the Sunny Lax Remix.

One prominent feature in this track is the broken chord style melody that occurs shortly after the breakdown. This was backed by layers of pad and string synth. As a result, the audio felt full even without the classic trance drum kick.

The way the track pulled back, then came back with the bassline and snare was effective in giving this track flow. The climactic portion which included the kick worked quit well in that it gave the track a nice climactic portion. The white noise-like sweeps at the end were a nice touch in moving the final breakdown along as well. Overall, this track had great flow throughout.

The mastering was nicely done. Nothing seemed to overpower anything else unnecessarily. Everything sits very nicely.

Overall, I thought this was a very good track. It has a nice uplifting emotion embedded into the track. The sub-melodies worked nicely on the quieter portions of the track. The main melody was very nice to listen to. The flow worked well overall and the mastering was nicely done. A great track for lifting your spirits up on.
