Review: Headstones – Long Way To Neverland (Rock)

By Drew Wilson

This review covers the rock track Headstones – Long Way To Neverland.

This particular track was released in 2013 on the album Love + Fury.

One thing that this track does immediately get is that bar music vibe. In fact, that’s the only thing I found this track being successful at – being music you would have in the background of a smoke filled bar with the one pool table in the corner with stained green felt and a battered wooden frame. The kind of music that might add to a very particular kind of atmosphere, but music that you’ll also find yourself ignoring part way through.

As for the track itself, it tries for a sort of western vibe, but it is ultimately just boring boring boring. I tried to find anything at all that was enjoyable, but found only some of the occasionally interesting sounds from the backing guitars. The vocals get lost in the heavily filtered reverb and what does poke through gets drowned out by the over-resonating guitars.

Overall, this track can break up silence under very specific circumstances. Beyond that, I found this track to be rather boring. There really is absolutely nothing special about this track and I am left with a sense of not wanting to listen to it ever again.
