Review: Eric Clapton – Bad Love (Rock)

This review covers the rock track Eric Clapton – Bad Love.

This track was released in 1990 as part of a single.

The track starts off with a synth pad and a synth melody. A synth bassline makes a brief appearance after that.

From there, the track then starts to take off with the electric guitar and drum kit. The vocals then come into the track with the electric guitars backing off a little.

After this, the main chorus then comes in. This is capped off with a brief instrumental section. At that point, the next verse comes in.

The main chorus comes back in with some minor vocal variations from the first appearance of the chorus. A synth then comes in and the track pulls out by quite a bit.

Some guitars then start building the track back up. After the drum kit comes in, there is a guitar solo. The solo then ends and a general instrumental section comes in. After this, the main chorus comes back for a third round. The main chorus repeats multiple times before the track then fades out for the last time.

The thing with this track for me is that there isn’t really anything overly wrong with it. It doesn’t have any major flaws that I could hear. On the flip side, there really isn’t much here that makes me overly excited for this track either.

After listening to it a couple of times, I feel like I’m listening to some sort of television theme song. In fact, if this is the opening credits of a TV show where people wearing aviator sun glasses, large bushy beards, Afro’s, and even a few people with beehive hairdo’s appear, this track could fit nicely.

Otherwise, I’m not sure this is something that I would listen to all that much. The reason is that the track does lose its shine after a few listens, so the staying power isn’t all that strong in my view.

Generally speaking, there is nothing that makes this track terrible, but there is nothing in this track that makes it a particularly great one either. It’s a very middle of the road one, only with limited use and staying power. So, a pretty average track.
