Review: Cyantific + Logistics – Flashback (Drum N Bass)

This review covers the drum n bass track Cyantific + Logistics – Flashback.

This track was released in 2006 on the album Ghetto Blaster.

This track starts of with a narration of someone in the future talking about how one can’t bring up the future, so people use a time machine to go back to the past where people can go back to music. If you’ve ever had that moment of saying “they don’t make music like they used to”, this is certainly relate-able.

The track then goes into a full drum n bass track with an interesting melody. It can sometimes switch from one melody to another, but uses on melody for a large portion of the track.

One criticism I have is that this heavy use of the main melody might have been a little overkill because there’s that subtle feeling that this track is a bit of a one trick pony.

Still, I thought the atmospherics that I heard in the beginning were masterfully done. I really felt like I was in some desolate place somewhere in the distant future. The main melody is also catchy even if it is a bit overused.

Overall, I felt that this track was a very good track. Slightly overuse of the main melody, but the atmospherics were excellent in the beginning. A worthy addition to anyone’s music library.

Score
7.5/10
