Review: Cartoon – Why We Lose (feat. Coleman Trapp) (Drum N Bass)

This review covers the liquid drum n bass track Cartoon – Why We Lose (feat. Coleman Trapp).

This track was released in 2015 online for free.

The track starts off with some vocal samples and synth chords. A few seconds into the track and some vocals are brought in. After that, some more pronounced synth elements are added.

After this, the track builds into a drum n bass structure. The vocals fade away and the synth melody takes over. After this, a secondary synth melody takes over with some vocal samples.

When the drop hits, the vocals take over. This is backed by some acoustic guitar elements. The track builds back up. When the track fully takes off, the main melody takes over again. After that, the vocal elements take over. After the main chorus for the vocals, the track quickly cuts off.

For me, the synth elements and melodies are alright. They aren’t anything to get exited over, but they do make the track decent. I think the vocals are quite decent. They give the track plenty of potential to work with. Probably the best part of the track was when the guitar elements are brought in after the drop. They add a nice amount of variety to the track as far a I’m concerned.

One thing I am not a fan of is the sudden cut off at the end. In this case, it cheapens the track quite a bit. There’s nothing there to really wrap the track up in any way.

Generally speaking, this is a pretty decent track. There are some good elements to be had here for sure. The sudden cut off at the end did the track no favours though. While there are plenty of tracks in this genre that are better, you could definitely do a whole lot worse than this track. So, a decent one to listen to all around.
