Review: Captain Hollywood Project – Over and Over (Pop)

This review covers the dance pop track Captain Hollywood Project – Over and Over.

This track was released in 1996 on the album The Afterparty.

The track starts with a synth effect. A synth melody then comes in. After that, the female vocals come in for a main chorus. A subtle synth melody backs this part. A snare roll comes in and the vocals continue with a mix of main chorus and non-lyric elements.

The track then drops, leaving with just minimal synth, a drum kit, and male rapping vocals. Those vocals take the track into the first verse. After that, the female vocals come back for the next round of the main chorus. This section is capped off with an instrumental section which features a synth melody.

From there, the track drops for a bit. The male rapping vocals then come back for another verse after some chopped elements. After that, the female vocals take the track into another round in the main chorus. Another instrumental section comes in, largely the same as the previous round.

After that, the vocals lead the track out along with a synth effect.

My thoughts on this track are that the vocals are decent enough. You have that dynamic rapping and singing all in the same track. It’s pretty good.

The main chorus definitely has elements that make it a catchy track. While it isn’t the most thrilling I’ve ever heard, it’s not bad either.

Finally, the synth melody and other elements are pretty good. They offset the vocals nicely to give the track some good variety.

Overall, this is a pretty decent track. It’s got decent vocals which feature both rapping and singing. The synth melody is pretty good and offsets the vocal section nicely. Even the main chorus has reason to be pretty catchy. So, an overall decent track.
